Good triage is a skill you can learn and practise. This webinar gives you a structure that works under pressure, with two cases to show how it fits together.
You’ll learn how to take a capsule history and the key questions to ask, then the primary survey of airway, breathing, cardiovascular and neurological status, including heart and respiratory rate thresholds for dogs and cats. You’ll then work through triage category, consent, estimates and CPR status (full CPR, limited CPR and do not resuscitate), pain assessment and analgesia for patients waiting to be seen, and the benefits of IV access, using ‘Sammy’, a dehydrated, vomiting cat, as the example.
The webinar finishes with communication: the ISBAR tool for handing over to colleagues, and an explanation, reassurance, next steps and regular updates approach for distressed clients, applied to ‘Max’, a Labrador with a suspected gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV).
