This webinar introduces the main reptile groups, the crocodilians, chelonians, lizards and snakes, and the tuatara, and what sets them apart. It covers how to assess reptiles as individuals, safe handling of snakes, lizards and chelonians, and how to house them in hospital, with a focus on lighting, UVB, heating and the Ferguson zones.
It then looks at which procedures can be done conscious, ASA grading, vascular access and why reptiles shouldn’t be gassed down for induction. It finishes with common reptile conditions, many of which come from husbandry, and the viral diseases adenovirus, herpesvirus and reptarenavirus.
