Pancreatitis ranges from mild disease with no obvious signs to severe necrotising disease with shock and DIC. This webinar covers current thinking on its cause, predisposing factors such as hypertriglyceridaemia and diet, the clinical signs in dogs and cats, and diagnosis using pancreatic-specific lipase, radiography and ultrasound. It also looks at anaesthetic considerations for at-risk patients.
The second half covers medical management: IV fluid therapy and reassessment, pain scoring and analgesia, continuous rate infusions, anti-emetics, and nutrition, including fat content and supportive feeding. It finishes with the role nurses play in identifying and quantifying clinical signs to guide care plans.
Presented by Nicola Lakeman at the 2025 ACVN Nurse Conference (Medical stream).
Includes the full recording (1 hour 4 minutes), the presentation slides as a PDF, and a quiz. Pass the quiz to receive a certificate worth 1 AVNAT point.
