Hepatitis has many causes, and much of its management is about supporting the patient and the clinical signs they show. This webinar covers the causes of hepatitis, why liver disease produces such a range of signs, and the nutritional assessment of liver patients, including weight and muscle condition score. It looks at protein quality and when protein should be restricted, and at supportive nutrition for cats with hepatic lipidosis, including naso-oesophageal and oesophageal tubes.
It also covers the factors that can trigger hepatic encephalopathy, prebiotics and probiotics, feeding little and often, and finishes with the risks of over-supplementation, including vitamin A and copper.
Presented by Nicola Lakeman at the 2025 ACVN Nurse Conference (Medical stream).
