Reading a patient’s body language helps keep you, your team and the patient safe. This webinar covers the four coping responses in dogs (fiddle, freeze, flight and fight), the ladder of aggression, and what happens when early warning signs are ignored.
It then looks at the more subtle signs in cats and their three coping behaviours: fleeing or avoidance, freezing, and repulsion. It finishes with practical handling options, including low-stress handling, breaks, food, distraction and pheromones, and what to do when a procedure can’t wait.
Presented by Cherie Murdoch at the 2024 ACVN Nurse Conference (Medical stream).
