This webinar explains what socialisation really means for puppies and why it is about much more than meeting other dogs. It covers the signs of anxiety owners need to recognise, how to respond by increasing distance and reducing the stimulus, and how to advise clients on safe socialisation during the socialisation window while lowering the risk of diseases such as parvovirus.
It then looks at introducing puppies to the clinic with puppy visits and Fear Free handling, and how to run a puppy pre-school class. It finishes with tips for the common behaviour questions from new owners: toileting, alone time, jumping and biting.
Presented by Tess Richardson at the 2022 ACVN Student Conference.
