Enrichment means letting an animal show the behaviours its species is built for, and giving it choices. This webinar shows you how to do that across birds, small mammals, cats, reptiles and dogs.
You’ll start with the physical habitat: perching and climbing, substrates, nests and hiding places, dens and burrowing, and keeping enclosures safe and clean, with specific ideas for cats. From there you’ll work through social enrichment for each species, including the sensitive period for puppy socialisation. Food enrichment covers scatter feeding, food dispensing toys and baffle cages for birds. Cognitive enrichment includes occupational enrichment, dog sports and trick training. Sensory enrichment covers manipulanda, texture, scent, taste, sound and visual stimulation. You’ll finish with rest and relaxation, the element that most often gets forgotten.
