This webinar introduces the RECOVER guidelines for veterinary CPR and why every patient, especially an emergency or critical one, should have a resuscitation code. It explains how CPR is split into basic and advanced life support, how it runs in 2-minute cycles, and the roles in a CPR team, including the leader, recorder and drug person, and how they communicate.
It then covers the two steps of basic life support. For compressions, it looks at rate, the thoracic and cardiac pump techniques for different body shapes, good and bad technique, and how to tell whether compressions are working. It finishes with intubating and ventilating during CPR without stopping compressions.
