This webinar explains what haemorrhage is, the difference between internal and external bleeding, and how to tell arterial from venous haemorrhage by pressure, colour and how easily it clots. It also covers how coagulopathy complicates a bleed and the safety steps to take first, including muzzling an injured patient and wearing PPE.
It finishes with first aid for a bleeding patient: assessing the situation, dealing with foreign bodies, direct digital pressure, direct pressure, pressure wraps and when a tourniquet may be used, with a demonstration of applying a pressure bandage.
