Triage means “to sort”, and it decides the order in which patients are seen. This webinar covers phone triage: asking the right questions, staying calm and in control, and giving advice on transport and urgency without making a diagnosis. It then works through a four category triage system, with the colour, treatment time and example presentations for each category.
It finishes with a list of common emergency presentations and a set of practice cases to put in order, with reminders of what nurses can do while a patient waits for the vet.
Presented by Laura Salmond at the 2021 ACVN Student Conference.
