This webinar explains the three types of pain: physiological pain as an early warning, inflammatory pain from trauma or surgery, and neuropathic pain from damage to the nervous system. It looks at why pain management matters for recovery and at the physiological and behavioural signs of pain in dogs and cats.
It finishes by introducing pain scales used to decide whether a patient needs analgesia: the CSU canine and feline pain scales, the Glasgow Feline Composite Measure Pain Scale and the short form of the Glasgow Composite Measure Pain Scale.
Presented by Michele El Bayeh as part of the ACVN webinar series.
Includes the full recording (40 minutes), the presentation slides as a PDF, and a quiz. Pass the quiz to receive a certificate worth 1 AVNAT point.
