This webinar covers when and why a urinary catheter is placed in a dog, including blockages, spinal and neurological problems, recumbency and urine output monitoring. It explains the difference between temporary rigid catheters and indwelling Foley catheters.
It then works through placing a catheter in a male dog, from equipment and positioning to securing the line and attaching a collection bag, followed by the female dog, where placement is harder and the urethral opening is found by feel or with a speculum.
Presented by Laura Salmond as part of the ACVN webinar series.
