When a client asks whether pre-op bloods are really needed, this webinar helps you give a clear, confident answer.
You’ll learn what pre-op blood tests are and why they are run before surgery: the liver and kidneys metabolise anaesthetic drugs, the results can show dehydration or anaemia, and they give a baseline for the future and guide aftercare. You’ll cover the common in-house biochemistry parameters for liver function, renal function and proteins, plus glucose, calcium and phosphate, and what haematology and the WBC dot plot show.
You’ll then work through common abnormalities, including diabetes, Cushing’s disease, anaemia, dehydration, hyperthyroidism, renal disease and liver disease. The webinar finishes with why life stage matters and why pre-op bloods are worthwhile in young, healthy patients as well as older ones.
