Cats can be trained, but they learn differently to dogs and need a different approach. This webinar looks at how cats learn, the difference between associative and non-associative learning, habituation and sensitisation, and how primary and secondary reinforcers work, including when a clicker suits a cat and what to use if it does not.
It then covers setting up for success with the right environment, timing, hunger and rewards, and the training tools of capturing, luring, cueing and shaping, using videos of a cat being trained. It finishes by looking at behaviours worth training in the clinic and how co-operative care makes nursing cats less stressful.
