Cats are not small dogs, and handling them like dogs rarely ends well. This webinar helps you make every cat visit calmer for the cat, the owner and your team.
You’ll start with the causes of fear and aggression in cats, the difference between fear and anxiety, and how cats freeze, flee or fight when they can’t escape. A series of photos shows how body posture, ears, pupils and facial tension change as a cat moves from early anxiety towards aggression, followed by a diagram comparing fear and aggression.
You’ll then cover what to do and what to avoid in the clinic, including preparing ahead, mid-level cages, hiding places, separate cat appointment times and pre-visit gabapentin prescribed by the vet. The webinar explains why many clinics are moving to scruff-free handling, the tools available (thick towels, large blankets, cat muzzles, leather gloves and chemical sedation), includes a handling video, and finishes with how to choose a cat carrier.
