Part 2 of Cherie Murdoch’s orphaned kitten series picks up where the first four weeks end. It gives you what you need to spot trouble early, treat common illnesses and raise healthy, well-adjusted kittens.
You’ll start with normal vital signs for neonatal kittens and kitten fading syndrome, then the common illnesses in neonates: hypothermia, cat flu, diarrhoea, constipation and hypoglycaemia, with the signs and treatment for each. You’ll then follow kitten development from four to eight weeks, including self grooming, the air righting reflex, litter training and the development of predatory and object play.
You’ll learn how to wean a kitten, starting with a slurry of pate-like wet food mixed into milk and reducing the milk gradually. The webinar finishes with preventative care: worming and flea treatment, the F3 and FIV vaccination schedules, desexing and microchipping, and resources for foster carers.
