Warmth, food, toileting and care around the clock: this webinar shows you how to provide all of it, and how to spot problems before they become emergencies.
You’ll start with what neonates are and the five key requirements of neonatal care: temperature, feeding, toileting, health and TLC. You’ll learn the equipment you need to foster kittens, then follow kitten development week by week from birth to four weeks, including the rooting, suckling and righting reflexes, when the eyes and ears open, when kittens start to thermoregulate and when weaning can begin.
Bottle feeding 101 covers using a specialised kitten milk formula, preparing and warming it, colostrum for newborns, choosing and cutting a teat, the forward prone feeding position, feeding frequency and what not to do. The webinar finishes with toileting and infection control after each feed, and the record keeping that helps you spot problems early, including daily weighing and the aim of 100 g weight gain per week.
