This webinar explains the difference between the pulmonary and systemic circulations, then follows blood through the heart chamber by chamber: from the right atrium and right ventricle to the lungs, and back through the left atrium and left ventricle to the body. It shares simple tips for remembering the order of blood flow, the position of the atria and ventricles, and the order of the heart valves.
It also looks at what happens in the lungs as carbon dioxide and oxygen diffuse between the alveoli and the blood, and how pulmonary oedema affects this. It finishes by reviewing where the pulmonary circulation stops and the systemic circulation begins.
