Lymphoma is the most common cancer in dogs. This webinar covers the common forms of canine lymphoma, risk factors, presenting signs, and the initial examination and minimum database. It explains paraneoplastic syndromes, including hypercalcaemia of malignancy and cachexia, then works through diagnosis and staging: fine needle aspirates and cytology, flow cytometry for B and T cell typing, bone marrow sampling, effusions and the WHO clinical staging system.
It then looks at the options after diagnosis, from no treatment and palliative care to chemotherapy protocols for B-cell and T-cell lymphoma, with a focus on owner information, chemotherapy safety and administration, and handling anxious patients. It finishes with adverse events such as neutropenia, tumour lysis syndrome, sterile haemorrhagic cystitis and extravasation, monitoring and relapse, and planning for euthanasia with the owner.
Presented by Caroline Boothroyd as part of the ACVN 2025 webinar series.
