This webinar looks at steam sterilisation, the most common method in practice, after a brief look at the other sterilisation methods used in clinics. It covers the time, temperature and steam pressure needed, the safety checks to do before use, and how gravity air-displacement and vacuum-assisted autoclaves remove air from the chamber.
It then explains how to tell which type of autoclave you have and how this changes the way you load it. It finishes with common packing errors, correct packing of pouches and bowl-shaped items, and why incorrect packing affects sterility.
