This webinar reviews the anaesthetic drugs commonly used in practice and why we premedicate. It covers the premedication and sedation drugs acepromazine, medetomidine, midazolam, ketamine and zolazepam with tiletamine, including how each works, whether it can be reversed and its side effects, along with the opioid analgesics methadone, fentanyl, buprenorphine and butorphanol.
It then looks at the induction agents propofol and alfaxalone, and finishes with isoflurane as a maintenance agent and what minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) means.
Presented by Nicola Wilkinson as part of the ACVN webinar series.
Includes the full recording (1 hour 6 minutes), the presentation slides as a PDF, and a quiz. Pass the quiz to receive a certificate worth 1 AVNAT point.
