Veterinary clinics produce a lot of waste and use a lot of energy. This webinar explains what environmental sustainability means, how greenhouse gases drive global warming, and the ways the animal care industry affects the environment, from sterile packaging and paper to medications, anaesthetic gases and electricity.
It then works through the waste hierarchy with practical, low-cost ideas for the clinic: stock control, using less isoflurane, returning items to suppliers, going paperless, reusing items, recycling and avoiding waste in the first place. It finishes with how to set up and maintain a compost bin for the clinic, including what can and cannot go in it.
