This webinar explains what an ECG can and can’t tell you, when to perform one and how to get a good trace. It covers the cardiac cycle and conduction system from the SA node through the AV node, bundle of His and Purkinje fibres, how leads and electrodes form the ECG, the parts of a normal complex, and a step-by-step approach to reading a trace.
It then works through common arrhythmias, including VPCs, AIVR and ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation and standstill, escape beats, AV blocks explained with a husband and wife analogy, and shockable and non-shockable arrest rhythms. It finishes with a set of practice ECGs to test your knowledge.
