This webinar looks at the nurse’s role in the euthanasia process, starting with the difficult talk: which phrases to use and avoid, and how to speak to clients who are likely to be emotional. It covers keeping a professional approach when you do not agree with a client’s decision, and how to explain to clients what is involved, including where it can take place and the normal effects they may see after their pet has passed away.
It also covers how to raise payment in a client-focused way and what to do if a client declines. It finishes with ways to look after yourself and your team after a stressful euthanasia, support services and further training, and why finding humour after the fact can be part of self-care.
