This webinar explains what blood pressure is and how it relates to cardiac output, heart rate, stroke volume and peripheral resistance. It gives normal systolic, diastolic and mean arterial pressure values, explains why MAP is the most meaningful measurement, and covers the common causes, effects and signs of hypotension in the anaesthetised patient.
Using anaesthetic scenarios, it works through how to troubleshoot hypotension with a normal heart rate and with bradycardia, and the steps to take depending on the cause. It finishes with the causes, effects and signs of hypertension under anaesthesia and how to respond to hypertension with tachycardia.
