This webinar works through the four stages of the digestive process and the structures of the digestive system in dogs and cats, from the oral cavity and pharynx through the stomach, pancreas, small intestine and colon to the rectum and anus. It explains the role of each part, including the exocrine and endocrine functions of the pancreas and where most absorption happens.
It then covers common digestive conditions: vomiting and diarrhoea, pancreatitis, GDV, megaoesophagus and constipation, with the causes, clinical signs, treatment and long-term management of each. It finishes with top tips owners can use to lower the risk of these conditions.
Presented by Michele El Bayeh at the 2023 ACVN Nurse Conference.
