This webinar applies scrub nursing theory to practice in theatre. It covers surgical hand rub, gowning, closed gloving, four quarter draping for soft tissue procedures, and orthopaedic draping with towel clamps or adhesive drapes, U drapes, Ioban and stockinette.
It then looks at suction, electrosurgery, setting up the instrument table, securing cords and hoses, and how to hand hinged instruments and scalpels. It finishes with what the assistant does at each stage of soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures, how to cut suture, and the steps at the end of surgery.
Presented by Teri Raffel Kleist at the 2025 ACVN Nurse Conference (Surgical stream).
Includes the full recording (1 hour 21 minutes), the presentation slides as a PDF, and a quiz. Pass the quiz to receive a certificate worth 1 AVNAT point.
