This webinar explains what the isolation ward is for: isolating patients with infectious diseases such as parvovirus, cat flu and ringworm, and barrier nursing immune compromised patients. It covers the ideal set-up, from disposable supplies and dedicated equipment to its own sink and closed cupboards, and compares footbaths with shoe covers, including where to place a footbath, when to walk through it and how to make it up.
It then steps through entering the ward, with the five moments of handwashing and the correct sequence for putting on PPE. It finishes with exiting the ward: removing PPE in the right order, washing your hands after taking off gloves and disposing of PPE in clinical waste.
Presented by Amanda Reeve as part of the ACVN webinar series.
