When an emergency comes through the door, a clear plan keeps you calm and the patient safe. This webinar gives you that plan.
You’ll start with setting up an emergency response area: a central, easily accessible space with a multiparameter monitor, fluids, an oxygen source, catheter equipment, a suction unit, a crash cart, a defibrillator and triage forms. You’ll then learn the four principles of emergency stabilisation: call for help, gain intravenous access, provide oxygen and collect baseline vitals. This covers IV catheter trays and sites (cephalic, dorsal pedal, saphenous, jugular, auricular and intraosseous), the emergency blood panel, why fluids are not benign, when to give supplemental oxygen and how to deliver it, and which baseline vitals to collect.
The webinar finishes by applying these principles to common emergencies: cardiopulmonary arrest, respiratory distress, blocked cats and hyperkalaemia, trauma and hypovolaemic shock, gastric dilatation volvulus (GDV) and seizures.
